spark league

spark league

where practice meets play, coaching meets competition, and energy meets excellence.

Our flagship program, called Spark League, is an innovative and exciting twist on traditional development leagues. Offered for Boys and Girls ages 8-14, the Spark League combines the best parts of rep basketball like team practices, weekly games, and quality coaching, with the best part of house leagues, like local games and less travel, and offers a unique basketball experience right here in Midtown Toronto.

Throughout the season, each division will have two sessions per week; a weeknight skills practice and a weekend Spark League team practice and game. Teams are coached by a professional coaching staff that follow an innovative club-wide curriculum. All sessions take place at De La Salle College School (map).

Weeknight Skills Session
Each weekly skills session includes a short warmup run by the Lead Instructor, followed by a station-based session focusing on fundamental skills like dribbling, shooting, passing, basketball IQ, and athletic movement. As the season progresses, coaches will begin implementing simple systems and game structures during practice, teaching players the fundamentals of defense, transition, offense, and more.

Boys Skills Sessions are offered on Tuesdays or Thursdays (players will pick one during registration). Girls Skills Sessions are offered on Wednesday nights.

Weekend Practice & Game
On Saturday or Sunday, each team will have a short team practice (30 min) followed by a Spark League Game (1hr). Each division will have a dedicated window for games, and depending on the number of teams in each division, game times will rotate within the time block each week. Teams are coached by a RUSH Basketball coach and managed by RUSH staff and Game Leaders (referees).

Teams & Evaluations
The first session of each season is reserved for a player evaluation session. Coaches will evaluate players, and teams will be created based on equal skill level. Friend requests for this program are not available.
